Triumph v Karma-la – the second coming

Andrew L. Urban

The problem for the Democrats is not that they’re out of touch, as everyone is saying in election post-mortems. Their major problem is that they have let their loud but stupid left wing to take over and self-harm the entire left in a big way. Trump’s triumph is the karma they deserve.

The karma for shoehorning a rapidly ageing Joe Biden into the White House in 2020; the karma for slotting the unmeritorious Harris into the VP job; the karma for pretending he could be a fully functioning President when he obviously wasn’t; the karma for being unable to avoid anointing Harris as their Presidential candidate, without a single vote to her name; the karma for allowing her campaign to degenerate into hate-filled caricaturing of Trump; and perhaps worst of all, the karma for belittling, insulting and demonising Trump supporters. While Trump belittled, insulted and demonised his individual opponents on the left, he never directed his venom at their supporters. As he says, you can’t lead the nation if you don’t love the people.

In a campaign where most of the policy talking came from Trump, most of the poisonous hysteria about him came from wild-eyed Democrats, the likes of political actors like (wealthy) Nancy Pelosi to (wealthy) celebrities like (wealthy) Oprah Winfrey, or (wealthy) Hollywood actors like Robert de Niro. Joe Biden wanted to ‘smack his ass’ while de Niro wanted to punch Trump in the face.

Now comes the mud slinging across the left….

I’ll leave it to others to itemise the many failures of policy that pockmark the Biden-Harris administration and the Harris campaign, except to mention the two most obvious domestic and foreign issues that damaged the Harris campaign: unbridled illegal immigration and the Obama-esque treatment of Iran.

To my mind, the atmosphere of the entire campaign had the sour taste of the politically driven lawfare against Trump, endless dishonesty and mischaracterisation of what he said and did (eg the ‘bloodbath’ furphy).

The sheer volume of these false accusations (starting way back with the Russia collusion allegations) built up a picture of the Democrats and their supporters as nasty, untrustworthy, cynical and lacking integrity. It’ll be hard for the Democrats to restore trust and respect for their character.

Trump’s triumphant second coming was aided by the bad policies and the poor candidate fielded by the Democrats. But in the positive column, he brought to the fore his trademark boldness and his determination to make America great again, which with four years under his belt he could prove was not just a slogan. If only he would stop the derogatory personal comments, his triumph would shine even brighter.

But let’s face facts: Kamala Harris was not the real Democrat candidate. She was an emergency placeholder for a Democrat candidate. They had badly misplayed their hand and left themselves no choice. She was expected to give the Democrat party faithful, the never Trumpers, the far left of voters and the abortion-obsessed a box to tick. She was not a genuine alternative President. She is now having to absorb much of the blame – but there is plenty of blame to share among the entire left. Karma crunch is coming for the left.

Harris herself will feel the sting of karma when she has to formally certify the election result in her role as Vice President.
