Minority Report: ‘safe as a Faruqi’

Andrew L. Urban.

It is said that to know who wields power in a society, see who it is you cannot freely criticise, without consequences. These days, the dynamic between majority and minority in democracies has been flipped in the oppression championships. It is certain minorities who have political power now – and they are not democracy friendly. In this new power list, it is minorities, such as trans (not -vestites but the sex changing ones of which Roxanne Tickle is a prominent member), are at or near the top.

It is arguable that since same sex marriage has been legalised, gays have lost their status as a minority shielded from criticism, as they are considered to be a part of mainstream society. As a result, gay politicians, say, can be criticised without fear of being stomped on and the critic declared homophobic.

Women have not yet arrived at that social position, unless they are black. A black female is a formidable target who can deflect even the most damning and valid criticism simply by being a black female. (“You racist misogynist!”) Indeed, people of any colour other than white share such power, even if they do not belong to a ‘race’, like Mehreen Faruqi, who managed to seduce the Federal court into error (that Hanson’s post breached section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975) so she can take legally enforceable offence at Pauline Hanson urging her to “Pack your bags and piss off back to Pakistan.” after Faruqi had posted critical comments about Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her death.

Pakistan is a country which is chock-a-block full of ethic varieties but cannot be considered a race. That’s where the colloquial Aussie phrase comes from: ‘safe as a Faruqi’.

Muslims share the power podium to such an extent that a few thousand of them who have coalesced around the western suburbs of Sydney can influence both domestic and foreign policy decisions by the Albanese Labor government. Criticism of Muslims is generally verboten, as Hitler and his old Muslim friends might say.

Jews of course are a minority but their status has been flipped after having been assigned oppressor status so they can now be freely criticised, indeed it’s obligatory. As this proves, there is no logic, common sense or rationality to these power rankings. They emerge from deep insecurities, fears and primitive madness of crowds.
