It’s the sheila-shield women who need to apologise

The PM’s sheila-shield of Gallagher, Plibersek, Wong and the rest, has now locked the PM out of any apology over his juvenile juggling of Japanese melons. How could Albo now apologise when these women have all said he had done or said nothing wrong. In this game of political chess, Labor has check mated itself.

A senior female business leader, who declined to be named, told The Australian she was deeply unimpressed with Mr Albanese’s comments, declaring he owed an apology to the women of Australia. Recounting her experience as a 15-year-old working in a grocer’s and hearing a colleague referred to as a “melon smuggler”, the business executive indicated she would be contacting Mr Albanese directly to convey her disgust at his remarks. “Everyone knows what he was talking about. I think this discussion about him apologising to the Japanese Prime Minister is misdirected. He needs to apologise to women across Australia,” she said.

Chief Executive Women, the body representing Australia’s most “senior women leaders” across corporate, the public service and academia declined to comment on the matter.

Perhaps it’s those so called or former feminists who need to apologise…
