Occasional snapshots from the news and current affairs

Oh for gawd’s sake, lefties, stop the woke whining about Ditch the Witch being sexist. It ain’t. It’s a vocal express carrying dissatisfaction with the unelected Jacinta Allen’s woeful performance as Victorian Premier. Daniel Andrews got ‘Dictator Dan’ for similar reasons.

The whining replaces any credible defence of her stewardship, just as when the phrase was hurled at Julia Gillard. The only defence they have is denigrating the slogan. We will not be lectured on sexism by the same Gillard who destroyed women’s rights to safe spaces.

In 1972 …

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an’ pretend
‘Cause I’ve heard it all before
And I’ve been down there on the floor
And no one’s ever gonna keep me down again

Composed by Ray Burton, lyrics by Helen Reddy

In 2026 ..

I am woman hear me groan
It seems that I’ve been here before
And I know some men who go on an’ pretend
as they bang on women’s door
Not letting liars in the door
and no judge# will ever make me ‘fraid again
# nor any Sex Discrimination Commissioner

Can’t wait for some Labor luminary or the grumbling Greens to label One Nation supporters ‘deplorables’.

“Unable to see that the things they hate about One Nation are the same things that many Australians love, cranky leftists have turned their anti-One Nation movement into a great big Elect Pauline Project.

“Here, for example, is eternal ABC activist and current X commentator Quentin Dempster’s fever-dream version of One Nation’s platform: “Frack, drill, open cut coal; deport/ban Muslims; restore landlords’ neg-gear/CGT slush; open slather gambling; paywall for ABC; axe Family Court; ‘work choices’ 2.0, burn Aboriginal flag.”

“Put aside Dempster’s misrepresentations, exaggerations and fearmongering, particularly about Aboriginals and Muslims, and you’ve got a pretty workable nation-rebuilding strategy there. As my mate Fred Pawle responded: “You had me at ‘frack, drill and open cut’. But a paywall for the ABC as well? Bring it on!” – Tim Blair, The Daily Telegraph

OR … maybe a paywall just for ABC news and current affairs (lefty bias central), leaving the regional coverage and (if woke-free) children’s programming free.

Silence is complicity… but by their action in hiring Grace Tame for a podcast, the ABC has actively endorsed her violent, angry shrieking “from Gadigal to Gaza, globalise the intifada” at a Sydney Town Hall rally. People are usually judged by the company they keep …

Blair MP Shayne Neumann launched an attack on his possible rival for the working-class seat west of Brisbane. The Labor MP who represents the town of Pauline Hanson’s political birth says One Nation is “not a serious party” and offered only “simplistic nonsense” that would send Australia bankrupt. Been there done that, quipped Labor.

One Nation, producer of hilarious satirical cartoon series Please Explain continues to be the only party with a sense of humour. Their new ad mocks Labor’s ‘Stop One Nation’ fund raising campaign with its ‘Stop Labor – Fire the Liar’. Labor is asking supporters for $27 each; One Nation is asking for $29. Is that like going up market?
