Our multiculturism $ in action … or should that be Musliculturism?

Andrew L. Urban.

The Middle East Forum has just issued a press release reporting its findings into Islamists in Michigan who call the country “the House of Satan’ while taking millions in federal and state funding. We did a bit of research and found that Australian taxpayers are just as generous towards Muslim organisations in this country.

PHILADELPHIA, October 29, 2026. Speakers at Michigan Islamist pulpits have told worshippers that they live “in America, in the house of Shaitan [Satan],” declared that “the fall of the great Satan has begun,” prayed that God take Netanyahu, “his soldiers, and his minions” and “kill them individually, leaving none of them,” foretold the “final annihilation of Jews,” and asked God to let them “live upon jihad” and “die upon martyrdom.” The Middle East Forum today published these statements.

The site sets out 928 statements from 36 Michigan Islamist institutions, each linked to the institution’s own video at the moment the words were spoken. Twelve of the 36 received $47,357,045 in federal, state, and city money. Forty-one public officials and public bodies attended, spoke at, honoured, or funded them in 63 acts. Michigan’s population is 10.15 million of whom about 2.4% (or about 1,136,569) are Muslims; there is no reliable figure for Muslimists, as in political ideology.

Australia’s millions for Muslims:

There is a substantial amount of identifiable government funding for Muslim organisations, mosques, Islamic educational and cultural bodies, Muslim women’s organisations and Muslim community programs.

One important finding is that some grants are explicitly designated for Muslim organisations, while others are part of broader packages for Palestinian, Arab and Muslim communities.

Some examples: The Commonwealth announced a $25 million package in March 2024 to assist Palestinian, Arab and Muslim communities affected by the Hamas–Israel conflict, which includes $5.9m supporting Palestinian integration, Muslim and Arab community cohesion and security.

The 2025 Commonwealth non-procurement contracts register identifies individual organisations and the amounts of grants provided for the support of Palestinian, Muslim and Arab communities. Some of the named recipients include:

Organisation Grant
Islamic Charitable Trust Fund $324,500
Islamic Women’s Association of Australia $384,355
National Zakat Foundation $323,412
Islamic Sciences and Research Academy (ISRA) $365,200
UMNT Incorporated $201,410
Salamfest Incorporated $110,000
Melbourne Muslimahs $110,000
Islamic Society of South Australia $109,052 and $544,500
Australian Iraqi Association for Cultural Connections $200,000
Australian Intercultural Society $194,613
Link Org Limited $200,000
Be Hers Ltd $200,000

The Commonwealth has committed a further $25 million over three years for security improvements at Muslim faith-based facilities. The funding is administered by the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC). This is a direct Commonwealth allocation announced under the Multicultural Places of Significance programme. Eligible facilities include:

Mosques
Islamic schools
Islamic centres
Other Muslim community facilities

PLUS – the States ($7,691,295)

Example: NSW

The Multicultural NSW Annual Information Statement for 2024–25 provides an unusually useful breakdown of individual grant recipients. Some of the identifiable Muslim recipients are:

Organisation Grant
Australian National Imams Council $1,000,000
UMA Centre Limited $1,500,000
United Muslim Women Association (Muslim Women Australia) $200,000
Australian National Imams Council – Safe Places for Faith Communities $118,502
Bonnyrigg Turkish Islamic Cultural Association $50,000
Muslim Cultural and Youth Association Sydney $49,000
Muhammadi Welfare Association $29,562
Al Zahra Funeral Services $19,100
Almiraj Sufi and Islamic Study Centre $12,211
The Lebanese Moslem Association $25,000
UMA Centre Limited – additional listed award $50,000

South Australia ($2.05m), QLD ($228,000), Western Australia ($2.3m),

We would not claim that the figures above represent all public funding to Muslim organisations.

In particular, they do not yet capture:

  • All grants made by state education, health and community-services departments.
  • All local government grants.
  • Government-funded Islamic schools and educational services.
  • Settlement and refugee-service contracts awarded to Muslim organisations.
  • Grants made through agencies rather than multicultural affairs departments.
  • All grants to Islamic religious and charitable organisations.

That’s our multiculturism in action, perhaps invoking Pauline Hanson’s call for a dedication to Australian culture, where taxpayers are not generously subsidising and encouraging imported cultures that operate outside our own? That generosity implies approval and facilitates non-assimilation.
